As a consumer who bought a renovated house from a developer that has since ceased trading, weve been left in the lurch by Howdens as a whole. The local store wont deal with us as were not from the trade which means we cant replace very simple things E.g. cabinet door that was damaged without getting a tradesperson to buy it (but then nobody wants such a small job so were essentially left unable to replace it). Youd think theyd have some discretion in areas such as this (especially when there were errors with the installation anyway so their stated reason for only allowing trade buyers doesnt guarantee good installation anyway), but it feels very much computer says no. And a similar issue with a broken appliance but we dont know who the liquidated developer sub contracted the kitchen work to, nor the store it was bought in, so were left with a 2 year old fridge that needs repair (and is in theory under an extended guarantee) that, because Im only a consumer, Im not helped with Ultimately its the end users paying the tradespersons buying the kitchens etc. anyway so if given the choice in the future Id want any tradesperson I used to avoid Howdens to avoid being left high and dry basically. The two stars are because the kitchen is otherwise sound.

Absolute disgrace Howdens after care at Ellesmere Port. Had a kitchen fitted a few years back with a granite worktop after we got advised it would last us a very long time. Within the year we started to see defects on the worktop with the sparkly bits starting to come out leaving small holes all over the worktop. Contacted Howdens who contacted QA and they are saying its due to heat, QA didnt even come out to see it it was a sales guy who actually said they will probably say its heat damage, not actually sure how this can be as its all over the worktop not just in one place. They were quick enough to mither us when we were deciding what company to go with but dont want to rectify any problems. I would of put zero stars if I could, Jenny.

Most of the doors on the kitchen I bought for 7000 had protective film on the back. This had obviously been left on too long and the film wouldn't come off in one piece. It took approximately 15 minutes to painstakingly pick all the plastic off each door. If this wasnt frustrsting enough, I'm left with a layer of glue all over the doors, so every bit of sawdust , dust was stuck to them. I had to buy thinners to clean all the glue off. All in all this took another day on site, UNPAID. I voiced my complaint at the Burton on trent branch. The assistant manager completely dismissed my concerns and pretty much told me I was lying and no-one had ever said anything before about this problem. The last kitchen I have from them.

had new work tops fitted, then upstands failed they blamed me for the delamination, tried to contact them but not taking ownership of the problem still. All they offer is new upstands but not the route cause of the issue bad quality control of the product range. The manager even stated to he his upstands had failed! sent recorded letter to the CEO at head office but still no reply
