My wife and I had a lovely long weekend at the Old Spot at Homer Farm. Located on a smallholding on the edge of Dartmoor. The nice couple, Alison and Alan were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. There is off road parking just across the road. Although The Old Spot is a small accommodation it had everything we needed. Very clean, nice shower and toilet, twin beds with TV on the wall and a kitchen area. It doesn't have a full cooker but had a plug in double hob, small fridge, kettle and microwave. There is a small table and two chairs just outside of the front door. I really enjoyed just sitting outside relaxing, listening to the birds, and rushing water from the stream that runs next the cottages. Each day we had a nice walk around the small holding to see the chickens, lambs, sheep, cows and pigs. We walked across a small wooden bridge that goes over the stream that leads the the Chickens and Lambs, it was so beautiful and quirky. The surrounding area is absolutely amazing. If you want to get away from it all and have some peace and tranquility this is definitely the place to go. It's only about 3 miles out from Tavistock or a 5 minute drive so you really don't need to go far for supplies. If you don't want go drive out you can buy from Homer Farm. They have a utility room where you can do laundry but also you can buy all the products from the smallholding. We had fresh free range eggs, bacon, Sausages and their homemade chutneys and jams. We will definitely be going back there. I can not recommend it highly enough. Its the perfect getaway.

This place cannot get rated highly enough. It's such an idyllic place, perfect to unwind, remote but still close to everything. If you're looking for perfect internet connection this isn't for you. If you're looking for the sounds of a little brook carrying you to sleep, for millions of stars at a clear night with the milky way right above you, a quiet spot just to sit and watch the wagtails darting up and down the brook then this is for you. The owners are lovely and produce a lot of their own food which can be purchased (jellies and marmalade but also cakes and meat). We stayed in the barn which had been done up to a very high standard and was just lovely. It had everything you will need including some tea and coffee, tourist information, toiletries etc. A washing machine is also available if you're planning a longer stay. We only stayed for 2 nights and would have loved to stay longer. There are 2 pubs in close walking distance, parking is available and you can literally walk to the moors.
