Stunning hillside setting overlooking Woody Bay, with extensive grounds surrounded by mature trees. The views are magnificent, the wildlife prolific, access to the SW Coast Path practically on the doorstep and the air is filled with birdsong rather than the lawnmowers, pneumatic drills, traffic and sirens that are the soundtrack for most of our daily lives. Bliss! Lynton, Lynmouth, Watersmeet, Hunter's Inn, Ilfracombe and others are a short drive away. It is worth mentioning to any nervous or hesitant drivers that access to any roads you can two cars down is via a long, steep, single track lane with tight hairpin bends and passing places. Make sure your handbrake works! I have no hesitation in awarding both the Manor and the area five stars, but there were the normal little niggles that, I'm sure, will be addressed as the season progresses. For example some of the seating dotted around the grounds probably needs reinforcing or replacing, and one of our outdoor chairs had a nut missing. These are trivial compared to the tranquility and sheer majesty of the setting, and I heartily recommend the Manor to anyone for whom these are more important than having shops, a burger bar and entertainment next door.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The views are outstanding it's so peaceful too away from traffic noise just unadulterated bird song. Lot's of woodland to ramble through a short (steep walk to the cove). We visited all the surrounding villages and beaches which were lovely. Even did a road trip to St Ives, Newquay and Padstow. So despite it being remote you can get to anywhere or not if you want a real time out. There are shops and pubs but unless you are into hiking you'll need your car. Or just pack supplies like we did. Don't forget the basics salt pepper etc. Covid means no basics although we found chocolate cans of pop and fruit juice in the fridge which was lovely. We weren't bothered by anyone but knew if we needed any help we could ask Dave. The bed was super comfy, shower was good rooms all clean and tidy loved sitting in the garden of an evening with a glass of wine and listening to nature. Wifi and internet connection off and on but I came here to get away from work emails etc. So no issues for me.
