Intriguing church which is rather plain inside but has a lot of history. As evidenced by the Roman brick and stone in the walls, this church stands on the site of a Roman building, possibly a Pharos (lighthouse) which aided navigation of the river.

Furnished with modern light wood inside. Modern stain glass window, would assume the church has suffered extensive internal fire destroying all wood. No wood in roof either. Evidence of burning round oaks in tower. Outside the church appears large, strong, Norman, probably replacing earlier building. Lots of rocks used in structure which is odd as geographically this area has flint, not an abundance of rock.
