The Hand and Flowers

Perhaps I dont get 2 star Michelin - But the food was not right, not good enough, and if TK had been reviewing he no doubt would have to agree - Burnt Sausage roll, Parfait thin and consistency wrong, beef brisket dry and prepared to early, cabbage raw and to top it all a creme brulee that was so bad it was embarassing - over grilled caramel and unset custard... Poor. Roast potatoes were the best I have had - but when you pay nearly 600 for a meal for 2 thats a little hard to swallow.

My family and I popped along for lunch where two of us had the set lunch menu and two had the la carte. The food was absolutely fantastic - couldn't fault it. One small concern of the environmental impact of delivering bread from a bakery in Manchester, but it was great bread! All of the team front of house were very warm and welcoming. Our kids were very welcome, a relaxed atmosphere with childs menu and highchair provided. It felt like the food service took longer than it should have done - with lunch taking two hours (perhaps the clocks ticked slowly with kids in tow). We spent about ~500 so it's a little on the pricey side but I'd go again for another special occasion. It's nice to have a relaxed atmosphere with great food and a welcoming team.

Dont come here if you want to spend 400+ quids and be treated like trash. I mean, If you want to spend an arm and a leg and feel like a leftover scrap, then by all means, visit Hand and Flowers! It was the worst dining experience of my life. The waitresses seemed to have a secret vendetta against us, as they didn't bother explaining the food or served us the wrong dishes. And if that wasn't enough, they made us wait for ages after finishing our starters, only to bring us a surprise dish that was duck-liver instead of an omelette. The service was so bad that we felt like we were in a slapstick comedy sketch, with food flying over our heads and utensils falling to the ground not once but twice! It was an unforgettable night, one that I'll remember as a cautionary tale for the rest of my days. And guess what? When I complained, I didn't even get a sorry-not-sorry. So, if you're looking for a good laugh at your own expense, book a table at Hand and Flowers!"
