Unfortunately the experience fell below expectations, particularly when you consider the price point. Even booking a long time in advance, one was seated by the servery and kitchen door - this being the view for the majority of guests. The fish soup was fine albeit salty, but could be accompanied by more than two incredibly thin croutons. My beef was cold and a very small portion. The rocket-only salad was in a slightly unpleasant dressing. Working with these simple dishes, you need to produce great examples of them. I would suggest picking a menu which you know you can produce to a high standard. The waiter was rude and the other waitresses were pleasant albeit familiar at times. I wouldnt recommend going based on this experience but hope theyll be able to make something good out of it.

Had an amazing dinner at the Oarsman last night. As part of their guest chef season they had Henry Harris in the kitchen who turned out some fabulous French food. The service was excellent and the choice of wines was spot on for the food being served. The Oarsman just keeps getting better and I cant wait to find out who will be the next guest chef to grace their kitchen. I was at the Ben Tish night a few weeks ago which was also excellent. I would recommend keeping an eye on their Instagram account for news of the next event.

Great ambience here, very cosy. The waiter was hilarious, so charismatic. My food was delicious. My friends food, not so much. She had a chewy bavette steak, but they graciously changed it. Will go again.
