I visited Accademia Italiana yesterday for a cut and blow dry expecting a fairly busy salon that had very reasonable pricing. Instead, I was greeted by an empty salon with only 2 workers and 1 other customer. I was quickly seated in a chair and they asked me how much I would like to get cut, my haircut was fairly drastic but they took it in their stride and proceeded to wash my hair. As soon as that was done, I was moved across the admittedly small salon to another seat where I got my haircut. To my surprise, the stylist I had was very hesitant to cut my hair as short as I wanted, I needed about 6 or 7 inches off so I understood but had to insist a few times that I was sure about my decision. We compromised as she cut my hair slightly longer than I had wanted and said that I could say from there how much more I wanted cut off, it seemed reasonable to me. I then asked for shorter hair which I still had to insist for but she was very lovely through the whole interaction she seemed more cautious than anything else. After she spent a long time making sure that the ends of my hair were even all around, and I mean about 1/2 an hour or more, everything was finished. I was expecting to pay 37, far less than I have been charged in similar places, but was told I would instead be paying 27. Why? The other worker (presumably the owner or manager?) had added a 25% discount, much more than the 15% than they typically offer for students, to my bill! Overall, a bit of an unexpected start but I ended up with a lovely haircut that I'm really happy about and at a price that seems unreal for Marlow!
