A positive company in a world where carers often get overlooked & underpaid Senior Support Worker (Current employee) I enjoy working at New Horizons. The care industry is a cruel one where carers work long hours, receive little pay and are very often underappreciated. New Horizons are working hard to ensure that this doesn't happen to their carers. Yes, we still have to work long hours, but these can often be turned into split shifts if it helps, we are paid above national minimum wage and my fellow colleagues are regularly shown appreciation for their hard work and dedication. You are provided with all necessary training, plus more if required. You are supported with all aspects of the job and they will help with any problems. I work within a few smaller teams, which enables me to widen my skills and knowledge. As with all care companies, there will be stressful times, when we may be understaffed and have staff sickness, but we generally get through. New Horizons are currently the best care company I have worked for and in my 25 years of being in the care industry I have worked for a few care companies. Ive have been working for NHC for around 10 years and have found my time here very enjoyable and rewarding. Staff are matched with clients and recieve client specific training so that we can provide the best person centred care possible. Definitely get out of the job what you put in.
