We have not been to the Peak District before, but Felt Barn has made us want to return and explore some more! The owners were great communicators from the email 2 weeks before arrival to the day we left. We were a group of 6 adults (from 36 years old to 80 years young) and a 9 year old. Location wise, the accommodation is perfect. There are pubs/shops a short distance away and large supermarkets not too much further (Leek is 15 mins in the car). We had a Sainsburys delivery on the day we arrived, but I believe all the major supermarkets deliver here. There are walks from the front door across the varying public footpaths, and Manifold Way is a stones throw away also. One day, we drove to Bakewell, which was only a 25 min drive through stunning scenery and rolling hills. Another day took us to Carsington Water, which was lovely, and had something for the whole family. We also ventured over to Snake Pass, which was a 50 min drive (and well worth it!). The Barn itself was fantastic in every way. It was modern and very spacious but at the same time, cosy and homely. Even though we were a party of 7, 10 people would still have plenty of room here and not be in each others way. The layout works really well, and the owners have obviously put a lot of thought into how the property will be used. We were a large family, but the property would be perfect for groups of friends too. Downstairs, the kitchen was very well equipped and had everything you could need to make a piece of toast to a full roast dinner. There's a lovely large oak table in the dining area which we used not only for meals, but games/drinks in the evening. There's a wc and under stair cupboard that houses the washing machine and dryer. Upstairs, there's a nice sized sitting area (the sofas were sooooo comfortable) with large TV. We took the Nintendo and had my 80 year old mother playing Mario Kart! The hallway then leads onto the huge high ceiling bedrooms, the majority of which have ensuites, and the main bathroom. We had the first bedroom on the left, which has a small room off of it with a single bed and then a ladder leading up to another bed, which is above the main bedrooms ensuite (it'll make sense when you see it!). The perfect place for a 9 year old to make a den! All bedrooms and ensuites were fantastic with comfy beds, warm radiators, and hot showers. Outside, there is plenty of parking for 3 or 4 cars. There's also a lovely garden with picnic benches to enjoy the sunshine if your having a lazy day. We didn't need the car charging point in the end but its conveniently located adjacent the gravelled drive. In summary we could not think of anything that could make Felt Barn better than it is. We could not find fault in anything and thoroughly enjoyed our week here. We feel that the price we paid to stay in the Barn was very fair, especially considering the quality of accommodation you are getting. I looked at prices for mid summer and these are fair also. Thank you Annabel for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful Barn, we do hope to visit again in the future. Hopefully we left everything as we found it and sorry for all the sock fluff on those lovely cream carpets!
