This place went from being "OK" to "Let's Leave" when a chap who had quite obviously had a few came flying down he stairs - I think from the hotel above and smacked his head off the floor with such velocity I got a secondhand for the poor bloke.
Now, as he landed at my feet I got up to see if still had his brains in his head (he did) but he was quite evidently "out of it" at this point.
Immediately a member of security and another staff member without checking on this man's condition hoisted him up by the arms and dragged him out of the bar. Completely ignoring other concerned customers that perhaps he shouldn't be moved either with such force or indeed at all. Or perhaps they could of used the cordoned off area to allow the man to seat down safely.
It was my impression that they just wanted to get this man out as quickly as possible and we're not willing to ask or listen to anyone who may have seen the incident.
Thankfully when we left quickly afterwards the volunteer staff that work Canal Street were treating this man but I can't help thinking that it could have been dealt with with a little more compassion or concern for the man's welfare. As a bonk to the head like he sustained could have been very serious.
I appreciate that the staff here must have to deal with all sorts and it can be stressful, I just feel that this incident was dealt with extremely unprofessionally and anyone with a first Aid certificate would know to access a patient with a head injury before moving them. Perhaps a bit more thought instead of knee jerk responses when dealing with these incidents to keep your customers safe would be useful in future.
