Scheduled a viewing fairly easily, however they cancelled it when I was halfway to Manchester (live 2 hours away). They did arrange for one of the housemates to show me round a property, but messed me around massively

If you are looking for a competent estate agent that have good communication skills and due care toward their tenant, I would look elsewhere. When it comes to replying or trying to get things fixed in the house, they are about as slow as a fortnight in the jail. Not to mention how hard it can be living in a house that is so poorly insulated in the winter, draughty, and a boiler with issues (made worse by the lack of communication and thus, slow repair). In addition, rooms and communal areas are moldy, as well as mold on my mattress which I informed them about and requested a new one, which was then ignored, and I was told they had sorted it by spraying it. With regard with to mold in the rooms, their best solution is to just paint over it, because their solution is to ignore it and rather than fix it. House Dynamic: I moved into the property in August last year. It is clear that landlords dont take care to ensure a cohesive house dynamic in which people are sociable and get along well. Since I am moving out, they have not bothered to maintain an equal mixed house, as is advertised and was verbally reassured. Lack of communication: Since end of January, contractors and letting agents have been in and out of the house with very little notice or regard for the tenants (leaving the front door wide open in mid Jan/Feb and bathroom windows, resulted in borderline frost bite for current tenants). We did communicate this with them, however, the problem persisted. New Tenants: Letting agent move in new tenants with very little notice and next to no information. One tenant moved in with 2 days notice, and another with absolutely no notice who had been re-located from another Ideal house share, due to unlivable conditions. If you are told the house will be cleaned fortnightly, this is misinformation and will in fact only be cleaned once every 4 weeks if you are lucky. With the premium price charged, you get the bare minimum. Avoid.

As an estate agents about as helpful as a chocolate tea pot in the middle of the Sahara desert in the middle of the day, if you were lactose intolerant and didn't like tea. Ideal had a tendency to do as little as possible to help with any issues, this meant problems such as leaks, moulds and broken appliances could take months to fix or sometimes just not fixed at all. Their communication at times was unprofessional and rude. By the end of my tenancy I was so pleased to be leaving as Ideal made it really difficult to enjoy living there. It was anything but ideal, it was not what I would call a house, the only part of their names that rings true is that the the pain of renting with this company was shared. If this deters just one person from suing Ideal and save them from months of misery then I'd be pleased.
