Enjoyed our food and the wine pairing. The only issue we had was that everything felt so rushed, especially as we had the wine pairing. We had 3 glasses in front of us at one stage. The staff are friendly though and there is a great buzz about the place.

This review sums up the waiting game. You can decide if good things come. Last year I bought a voucher for a menu experience at @sixbynicomanchester , which expired 31st March 2023. Being the Prince of Procrastination, months went past and so did menus. Their reimagining of fish and chips just left me cold (why do you mess with perfection? Michaelangelo's David isn't improved by the addition of hipster goatee and sleeve tattoos.) Anyway, I booked for their vision of Japan and other friends sampled and reviewed positively. I couldn't wait. (Hold that thought.) Circumstances beyond my control caused rescheduling and the lovely people at @sixbynico Head Office were gracious. Not even another reschedule beyond the voucher expiry date phased them but the charms of the Orient were blown away by the trade winds of Africa and a visit to Marrakesh was booked. Fingers crossed. On one of Manchester's wettest days of April, we made it and were seated promptly. No waiting and no chance to chitchat with servers. To the best of my recollection, this site has never been a bank but the dcor and lighting could have been lifted from/inspired by any of those in walking distance that are converted banks turned restaurants. The popularity is evident by the brisk swapping of diners at the tables around us. Nothing so far indicates a relaxed dining experience, such as I have had with other matched taster menus. I start with an Old Fashioned, although there is no cocktail menu and it's served spot on. Perhaps this will take the edge off my nerves. The courses are delivered and explained but conversation not encouraged with the servers. All courses are well executed and do not overwhelm you by being too big to tackle, but neither do they overwhelm in the mouth. No criticisms or adverse reactions, just "nice". When making the booking we're reminded of a strict two-hour policy. I reckon we only just ran over the hour for all six courses and a pot of mint tea. None of the food has left enough of an impression to describe two days later. Worth the wait? I'm glad I tried it. Servers that wait without waiting, certainly.
