I miss Hulme library and college that used to be here. It's hot in here! I think about all the people right now who can't afford to keep their heating on. I wish they should come here. They wouldn't even need a sweater. Once I waited 40 minutes before anyone saw me. No-one noticed till I spoke up. I don't mind waiting, just that no-one said there was a delay. I felt like I was invisible. I dislike my adviser. Smile at me, but the eyes dead. Just waiting till retirement day. Don't care none about people. I been signing on for a few months this time around, this is the first time I've actually seen them. Okay, so one times I had a legit reason to be off. They re-arrange my appointment but this adviser still ring me up to see where I was. First time I in a good mood to sign on and this person rain on my parade. Needling me, trying to push me into any old job, just to get me off the books. Don't listen when I say I don't want a bad job coz that will land me back here in no time. When this adviser off, the other one I saw was lovely. Comforted me when I come in all upset. Been there for decades and it hasn't eroded their empathy. Now that is a truly admirable quality. Met a nice jobseeker while I was in. Coulda talked all day. We talk Claudia Jones, Notting Hill Carnival and the Abasindi co-operative. Back in the day was Abasindi and Family Advice Centre. Culture and support and friendliness all in one. All that gone now. Destroyed by the government. You're meat going into a sausage machine. The Jobseekers know. They exercise day-to-day resistance, like the slaves in the Caribbean centuries ago. I watch and learn from them. Advisers the overseers. They don't care about us, why should we care about them? I award 2 stars: one for the heating, one for the nice staff members.
