        This friendly society is a great place to meet people as well as to find support with the things life tends to throw at you that are often so difficult to cope with. I would recommend membership to anyone, the society has been in existence for over 200 years and I hope it continues to exist for at least another 200!

        I went to 3 links in Skipton to make new friends..It was awful. I walked in and went to the bar which was at the other side of the room. Everybody stared as I passed, no one smiled, no one spoke to me, not even the barman except to say how much the drink was,there was no hello, please or thank you. Every seat was around a table and they all seemed to know each other and saved chairs for some one so there was no where for me to sit and join in and no smiles to make me think I could join them anyway. No one but me was at the bar and anyone coming to the bar made sure they didnt make eye contact. Men stared and turned away when I looked at them, everyone talked in their cliques. It was really awful so I drank my drink and left. Oddfellows friendly? Not in Skipton. I will never set foot in the place again. Can you imagine how awful I felt?
