AQA Physics exam questions have always been well written but do get a little predictable over time so it is good that the spec is changed every so often. The new GCSE Physics spec has certainly brought a level of challenge that we haven't seen for many years. I do think though that AQA exam malpractice investigation procedures should be more robust, particularly where training has already been provided by AQA themselves. AQA have whistleblowing procedures but this presumably would apply to someone volunteering information. An individual who has been obliged to provide information as part of a departmental investigation because they have been questioned does not appear to be as well protected. I also think that it would be better if either all those involved in an investigation received a copy of the final report or none. If anyone is sanctioned, they will receive a pack which includes a copy of all statements and the investigation report. However those who were not sanctioned may never have access to investigator comments on their own statement. The report is also useful for the person who responsibility for implementing AQA regulations then passes on to due to any sanctions as it will help them to coordinate the situation more easily. It is also my opinion that AQA should investigate cases themselves where a large number of exam entries may have been affected as this could skew national results.
