Kent Gurkha Company

I have worked for Kent Gurkha Company as a supervisor for nearly five years following my transfer from the previous cleaning company. I have always found Kent Gurkha to be very supportive compared to other companies, both inside and outside of work. Its always easy to speak to a Kent Gurkha manager by phone or email if theres a problem, and they respond quickly, efficiently, and professionally. Kent Gurkha really care about their employees and making sure we are heard and supported. We have good personal relationships with the managers, who are always ready to listen and take the time to chat, and who try to be as flexible as they can with us to help out when we need something. The head office managers try to make sure we always have the staff, equipment and materials we need to do the job so we arent left short or let the customer down. Thanks to this we work well and make sure the school are happy they have already extended the contract twice. I am very happy working for Kent Gurkha and see many more years working with the wonderful team here at Dover.

I have been working with Kent Gurkha Cleaning company since 2011 and they have been amazing to work with. My experience with the company has been excellent; they ensure you're provided with any cleaning equipments necessary, give you a thorough instructions and training on what each company clients wants. Communication is easy and prompt and they are willing to listen to any enquires you may have. Overall, Kent Gurkha has been the most satisfying company I've worked with and I have been and I am still satisfied in working with them.

They're not a very good company to work for to be quite honest. They don't seem to employ enough staff to be able to complete tasks properly and safely. I'm a school cleaner and 10 days into the job and I still don't have time to complete my tasks. One of the supervisors looked at my like something he trod in when I told him there wasn't enough time to finish the tasks set. These tasks include cleaning glass on all doors, replacing paper towels in all given rooms, wiping tables, hoovering, sweeping, emptying bins and mopping. I've got 9 classrooms, hallways, a kitchenette/staff tea room, offices, staff photocopying area and hallways to complete in 3hrs. Should be 3.5hrs everyday but I'm told to hurry up because other staff want to knock off early. Its an impossible task. So much so that I've ended up with Plantar Fasciitis after walking so much during my 3hr shift every day and have to take time off to rest! The money isn't great either, minimum wage. There is no team spirit and head office are pretty hard to deal with. They don't care about their employees at all. I've expresses my concerns many times. However, these fall upon deaf ears. I'm pretty disappointed. If I'm going to do a task then I like to do it properly. I am an all or nothing type of person and it upsets me that I don't have enough time to do my job properly.

Wrotham School have used the Kent Gurkha Company for cleaning of the school for the last 12 months. They have been brilliant at daily cleaning - especially at the new COVID standards we are all working to. Their specialism for deep cleaning was urgently needed when the last cleaning company let us down very badly. They instantly brought the cleaning standard up to a great level. In the past lockdown period, they have performed amazing deep cleaning. The sinks are back to original condition in art, floors have literally had their colour transformed and the site has never looked so good. They have also worked alongside us when needed. We have been able to agree additional cleaning outside the contract at very competitive rates. Wrotham School are more than happy to recommend them for school cleaning needs.
