Normally I fix my laptops myself, but this time I thought I'd save time and do the sensible thing, since I am untrained, by going to a shop. Long story short, I will never go to a computer repair shop again unless desperate. I had two issues, and they didn't even bother looking at the second one (which was written down in their notes so no forgetting); didn't even bother turning the device on or even reattaching the screen they were testing. Didn't seem aware of the precise issue being the digitizer, which I'd made clear, just that "the screen was broken". Then charged me 24; at least it wasn't more. Not sure when I was last so disappointed in leaving a shop! Edit: it was not from eBay, and I definitely won't be coming back! We all had a good laugh about the Blu-Tack before I came back to find an unfixed computer...

This computer repair service in Macclesfield grossly over charged me for replacing my desk top hard drive with an internal SSD. The average charge by a technician for the work they carried out is 130 (according to 'Which' and various examples online). They charged me 246 and misled me in relation to the VAT by quoting a price of 205 and not mentioning it didn't include an extra 41 VAT. They should have been transparent and quoted 205 + VAT. They replaced my 1 TB hard drive with a 240 GB SSD which costs 20 on Amazon. They told me the hard drive cost 42. This is about the cost of a 1 TB hard drive on Amazon. My advice is to shop about for a fair price and use an ethical repair service instead.
