I'd like to be fair but haven't heard anything positive about the BACP. Had two clients who were treated appallingly by them when they had genuine concerns about other practitioners. One of these was severely traumatised by the offhand, dismissive manner in which she was treated. Really shocking.

Excuse me but how did 8 reviews suddenly get reduced to 3? Stop removing reviews - that's just more whitewashing! My experience with this organisation when I made a complaint is that it is disorganised and contradictory. I could not get the Hearing I wanted in order to confront my abuser because they have altered their complaints procedure in favour of the members, so don't believe what they say in their response to reviews, instead I was forced down a new "Consensual Disposal Agreement" which was basically an agreement between the BACP and the member on the most minimal basis possible for a serious breach of confidentiality. When the member responded and the assessment committee made their decision I was very shocked at the results, I had no right of response to the (very distorted, sarcastic, self-serving) version put out by their member, not even to mistakes. I was also shocked at the incompetence and lack of qualifications of the committee who made many errors, ignored and breached their own Ethical Framework, and believed their member AT THEIR WORD despite no evidence supporting them. Clearly there is a hierarchy and the public or complainants are at the bottom of it. This is also the impression from their Ethical Framework which makes no mention of the power imbalance in the therapeutic relationship nor the risk to clients of malpractice.
