My car went in for a service & MOT. My car had been stolen earlier in the year and gotten into several police chases and recovered with damage incurred. The garage was aware of this violation, as I had asked them to temporarily resolve the noise and ensure the car was safe to drive until I could afford to have the issue fixed completely. I saved up my money and asked the garage to look when I took it in on this occasion. My first concern, was that even though my car was completed and the additional problem identified, the garage owner notified me 10 minutes before closing, as I live over an hour away from the garage, I found this strange as I was given no opportunity to collect my car if I had wanted to. One hour later, I was offered work so I asked if I could go and collect my car to enable me to get to work, I am disabled, and was not able to make alternative arrangements. I was told that the car was in the garage and that he was at home so the answer was no. I lost out on money but understood that Mo was settled at home when I called at 1856 to enquire. The following day I was quoted for the damage to my car and came to an agreement with Mo being that the parts would take two days to come in and then a further two days to fix so I would be able to collect my car the following Tuesday. (2 days for parts, 2 days to fix and an additional day). I was contacted just before 1 am on Saturday morning and sent pictures of my car on double yellow lines/bus stop outside a restaurant approx 1 mile from the garage. When I confronted Mo with the knowledge that he had stolen and been joyriding in my car, with passengers without my authorisation, he attempted to say he was test driving my car. When I challenged him regarding the time, location and having passengers in my car, he was argumentative, defensive and refusing to acknowledge that he had violated my trust over stunting and cruising in my car with females over the weekend. He put the best part of 100 miles on my car, after the MOT had been completed and who knows what else was happening in my vehicle. When I got my car back my media settings had been changed, there was a device in my seat belt which would mean that he chosen not to wear one and had time to think ahead of his ventures and bring the device along, he had connected and left 3 different phones whilst my car was in his possession, his and two females which implies to me that he had driven my car on more than one occasion. I challenged his claim of test driving as he told me the part did not come in until Saturday, yet he was initially caught driving my car on Saturday early hours of the morning, before the part came and after he had diagnosed the issue. He thought I was a fool and that he would not get caught, unfortunately for him, he did. Whilst challenging him at the garage he withheld my keys and blocked me into his garage although I had made no attempt or indication to drive away and held the invoice in my hand throughout the disagreement. This micro-aggressive behaviour, along with him telling me he wanted me to get angry after I told him I didnt want to, he was swearing and shouting at me also, typical behaviours of somebody when they get caught out in a lie. He reluctantly deducted 40 from the bill, after I brought to his attention that my gauge was flashing, and I had left my car with over four bars of fuel. I am unsure as to whether Mos analysis of works necessary was actually genuine, and carried out so further costs will be incurred to have this assessed. This crime has been reported to the police, trading standards, and I have engaged small claims court to recoup my losses. Knowing that as a woman, I am open to being taken advantage of a man that holds power, I felt extremely vulnerable, helpless and as if I had no rights. Particularly as Mo has prior knowledge of my car being stolen previously, which is when the damage actually occurred.
