This garage told me I needed a repair but when I booked it in with another garage they told me the repair does not need doing and there is nothing wrong with the part. My car broke down and I had RAC come and look at it, they put a temp repair on my gear linkage and as my regular garage were booked for a week and a half I went to the nearest RAC approved garage which was Duke Street. On arrival staff appeared friendly and helpful however I later that day received a call stating my gear cable needed replacing and when I went to collect was advised that my gear mount also needed doing and my car wasnt going into 5th gear - so not repaired - I was charged 370 odd for this repair and advised to bring it back the next day if I wasnt happy. Drove it home and it was slipping out of 1st intermittently, not going into 5th and would not go into reverse. Extremely dangerous - however I managed to get it home and the following morning once I had stopped being so upset by it I called to raise issues I had with the car and the fact that if I had brought my car to an MOT with 3 working gears they wouldnt have let me drive it home that way so why did they give me the car back like that? Most of my concerns were generally dismissed, blamed on the gear box mount and only a small attempt at apology and a statement of this is why we said bring it back today if you werent happy so I allowed them a chance to fix it and they was not charged for this. I also advised if the gear mount needed doing then to do it but they could not source the part due to backlog so this was not done. I got my car back with all functioning gears but when going through gears on driving it was like the gear stick was hitting a bump before going into gear. I went back in and was advised this would be the gear mount issue and still to book in for gear mount fix. Nothing about that answer felt right as my car was moving smooth in and out of gears prior, even with the clip from RAC temporary fixing my gear linkage. So I booked it in today with my regular garage who have just called to advise that there is absolutely 100% nothing wrong with my gear/engine mount. They even had a 2nd mechanic take a look at it to see if they could assess the gear mount and find a fault and again there is no fault. The opinion of both other mechanics is that it is likely a fault in the installation/set up of the new gear cable. I cant fault the lady at the front desk as she was nice and polite every time she spoke to me. The mechanic Ross who did the repair was relatively polite but I just believe that it was either incompetence as it is likely the repair he did is the issue or a lie that the gear mount needed replacing. Either way I would never use this garage again and highly recommend others dont either.

I would highly recommend this garage. I took my car in to find a new clutch and flywheel was needed. Even though I had just had a new one put in only 8 weeks ago. They were very professional and keep me updated with the cars progress. With having a bad experience with a previous garage, they have definitely reassured that other garages can be trusted to carry out the job with high standard of work. Cant believe the difference the car felt leaving this garage to the other one. I will definitely be using this garage again for any repairs mots and servicing.

Great garage for all types of repairs and MOT. Don't look any further....this is the only garage I take my car too! Highly recommended A++++
