Anyone who works in the care industry will understand how hard our job can be .. I absolutely enjoy working with the elderly..understand that.. this job isn't always easy we all make mistakes no one's perfect.. those who complain about what we do need to come in our world then prehaps ..you will appreciate what we actually do ... know I've been working in the care industry for 29 years so please do not make judgements

AVOID!!! This care home has been abysmal from start to finish. We have had to move my loved one out of here due to the neglect and lack of proper care. Our family were distraught at what they saw on regular visits and glad to be rid of this place.

I gave woodthorpe lodge one star because Google wont let me give it zero. Note how all the 5 star reviews on here are from the staff!! I honestly wouldnt leave an animal in this place. Dont be blinded by the lovely facilities - the care in far from ideal care homes is seriously lacking and on the verge of serious neglect. Repeatedly find the person I visit in a urine soaked bed in the middle of the afternoon. I honestly dont think Ive ever been when her room hasnt stunk of urine. Ive been on the phone to her when carers have entered the room, scanned in on the system, not even said hello to her when shes called out to them, and left the room. The scanner tells the system that shes been checked on - but nobody even spoke to her. Lodged a formal complaint within three weeks of her being there which disappeared because the manager left and we couldnt access her emails. Thats what I was told by the regional manager, even though the complaint had been brought fully to her attention. And youre telling me they dont have IT people who could access them? Or a handover when a manager leaves?? Zero leadership, a culture of blame - they blame the person I visit , the gp surgery shes at, our family - but never look in the mirror. Moving her today as Woodthorpe Lodge is horrendous. And their parting shot?? I wasnt allowed in to pack for her, instead I was told the carers would pack her things. I arrived to find them in a pile in reception - in black bin bags. Rubbish bags. Absolutely despicable. Left a review on their Facebook page and their answer was to ban me from the page. Avoid this home and this company like the plague. EDIT - funny that theyve responded publicly. I left a similar review on their Facebook page, including pictures of how they dumped my loved ones possessions in bin bags in reception. Bin bags. Their response to that was to block me from their Facebook page. And turn off the reviews section. Theyre only responding here to try and save face. We do take feedback seriously? They ignored several concerns raised, buried a formal complaint, and lied to my face. Repeatedly. This home and this company are a DISGRACE. Im in touch with two ex staff of theirs and the stuff I have found out made my stomach churn. My loved one has been in a new place for three days now and is already like a different person now shes away from this dump. Shes up in the morning, showered, dressed, CLEAN, socialising with other residents - responding brilliantly to people who ACTUALLY CARE. AVOID AVOID AVOID WOODTHORPE LODGE AND IDEAL CAREHOMES AT ALL COSTS.

Lovely looking place but 'all fur coat and no knickers'! Person I visit, whatever time I visit, is always left in a wheelchair, head rolling; bed not made 14:15 and bins not emptied; bathroom just being cleaned; no help at meal time and resident had TIA so trouble raising spoon, dribbling etc. Such a smart, clean person now wearing clothes with food stains. Presumed understaffed but assured they are 'overstaffed' so where's the care? Meal option one Friday was fish & chip with peas or chips & vegetables. This home may have a cinema and a bar but some basic care would be of more use. So distressing to see.
