Just visited this magnificent church in the deepest darkest depths of the wilds of Norfolk . It was very foggy I almost expected to bump into Urd Verdandi and Skuld sat around a cauldron . Alas I didn't but I soon realised if I had consulted with them before setting off on this very dangerous voyage they may have told me it would be locked hahaha . I must plan these trips in advance you can get the keys by appointment only . Ho hum my fault but it was still worth the trip . It is a beautiful Church in a beautiful setting the fog made it very atmospheric . This is thought to be the spot where one Saint Fursey an Irish Monk was granted land to establish an Abbey by King Sigeberht I believe . It is mentioned by the Venerable Bede no less and in Saxon times the settlement was known as Cnobheresburg . St Fursey along with Saints Felix and Cedd were major players in the effort to convert the pagans of the area to the true faith . There are tales of miracles occurring here at this time . He got fed up after a while and retired for a year to live as an anchorite he sounds as grumpy and unsociable as me we may have got on . Anyway whilst off alone in the wilderness he left his brother in charge named Foillan . Eventually he travelled to Neustria and lived the remainder of his day's there presumably as grumpy as ever but meaning well and preaching the good word .

A beautiful church, set close to the Roman Fort, and probably where they got their building materials from. Interesting interior too. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful church, very close to the fort, the locals are very friendly! The church is not open to the public only for prayer, you can look around the outside though
