Kirkfell Cottage

Have had two fantastic holidays in the Lake District staying at Kirkfell Cottage. Polly and James are lovely hosts and the cottage itself is perfect with every need catered for in their exquisitely tasteful, designer surroundings. Favourite bits about the cottage - log burners, feeding the birds and watching them from the cottage window and the heated bed blankets absolute luxury after a lovely day out. Lots to do around this part of the lakes, so many places to visit and lots of great walking. Will definitely be back!

There is no higher accolade I can bestow on Kirkfell Cottage other than to say I could very easily live here! You will not regret spending time at this beautiful haven of peace and tranquillity. The cottage is exquisitely decorated with very thoughtful touches and attention to detail. The kitchen is an amazing space to cook in, very well equipped with a fully decked out pantry and the provision of milk, bread, eggs etc and delicious cake on arrival by Polly and James is very considerate. You will find you hosts to be wonderfully warm welcoming people, full of helpful recommendations of local places to eat and stunning walks to undertake in the surrounding area. There is a plethora of information to hand in the cottage as well as glorious books to indulge and ponder over as you snuggle up by the cosy wood burners. The two bedrooms are exceptionally comfortable along with the benefit of two superbly finished bathrooms. If you enjoy nature you will be thrilled by the local garden birds, hedgehogs, rabbits and red squirrels that you can enjoy from inside or sitting out in the lovely garden. This is the best cottage I have had the pleasure of staying at and I will have no qualms in booking my third visit very soon!

We absolutely loved staying at Kirkfell Cottage. From the start, communication is superb - Polly is very friendly, nice and responsive. She took care of all of our needs, including recommendations for lesser known walks / hikes around the area. We felt that we could count on Polly to sort anything out for us! The cottage itself is fantastic, with all amenities available that one can think of - including a brilliant selection of spices. The bed is super comfy (and complete with a bed warmer!!), the bedrooms are spacious for two couples and each have their own, nicely renovated bathrooms. The cottage is decorated in a smart way too. We loved the little touches such as the bird identification book that we found next to the window where we were birdwatching - and the massive map of the Lake District on the wall, which we used for planning our walks out. The kitchen facilities are a dream of any chef! The wood-burners in the sitting rooms were also a favourite for us, and so we practiced our fire building abilities with passion throughout the week. We felt our week at Kirkfell Cottage could not have been better. Thank you Polly and James, we will be back!
