S J Shortman Plumbing & Heating

I have never felt like I didnt belong in the UK, until dealing with this xenophobic and unprofessional company. We waited 2 weeks for a technician, who was sent to my house for a 12 oclock appointment. He arrived 15 minutes early, which normally would be fine, except I work from home and had scheduled a meeting to end at 12 pm. My wife answered the door and let him in to see the kitchen where we would like the dishwasher installed. She then asked him if he could wait until 12 pm when the appointment was scheduled so I could assist with retrieving the dishwasher. He rudely stated that we would have to pay him for his time. She politely explained to him that he had arrived early, and that I would be able to assist him at 12 pm. He stormed off. She then called to complain to the company, and was hung up on. I finished my meeting, then called the company to clarify what had happened. When I mentioned on the phone, to who I assume was the owner, that their technician had arrived early and refused to wait 5 minutes, I was told thats the way it is in this country. I assume he was referring to my accent. Ive lived here for almost 7 years without ever experiencing this sort of behaviour, and Im not sure what him trying to instruct me on what he considers appropriate behaviour in the UK has to do with rectifying an already bad situation. The owner then told me this conversation is over. I guess he decided, as did his technician, I wasnt worth his time to deal with someone whos not from this country.

I have used S J Shortman for a few years now and on a number of occasions at both my home and my mother-in-laws home. I can honestly say that Robert Shortman is excellent, a very good plumber, very knowledgeable and on two emergency occasions attended within the hour, I couldn't ask for a better service. I would highly recommend this firm for any and all domestic pluming requirements, they also charge a very fair price for the work they do. Service: Plumbing pipe repair
