As we opened the door we found ourselves in a very dark gloomy room with a few shadowy figures hunched over tables , there was a strange smokey smell and silence other than a low growl from the large dog guarding the bar . we backed out carefully and caught the bus home

Cosy, relaxed, dog friendly. Great old fashioned bar made of dark wood and mirrors. Range of tap beers was small but well looked after. To be honest, you can tell that it is probably only just getting by, so hasn't the money for the refurbishments I'm sure they would love to do, but that is the way with all old fashioned pubs. I'm glad it is still going and offers the service it does.
