I was unhappy with the HelloGuest owner called Veronica last October 2022 after I stayed at an inaccurately described property she managed; my point being that the listing misrepresented its suitability regarding train noise, and resulted in an unpleasant sleep-deprived stay for me and my family.
After I threatened legal action she stopped ignoring my complaint, and after a laborious process I achieved a partial refund. I note they also changed the listing description, but interestingly accepted no responsibility for it, claiming any agreement was just goodwill. She was the Host but blamed the owner of the property for the mistake.
All I got was first being ignored, then denial and excuses, and finally a demand to remove a Trustpilot review. I agreed to modify reviews and didnt leave an AirBnb review to get agreement without the rigmarole of continuing legal action. I also removed the Trustpilot review for the same reason. AirBnb moderators were entirely ineffectual.
Read what you will into all that; and see how it fits with other reviews. It seems to me that this company is fine unless you are unhappy about something, as 14% of Trustpilot customers seem to be. Not that unusual a figure in the industry HelloGuest are in sadly.
Id personally always find a host who is the owner, not manager in future; likely to be far less risky than dealing with a company like HelloGuest.
