Using Ackroyd Legal was one of the most frustrating and stressful processes. I went for cheap and well and truly paid the price. They treated their job as if all it was to do was forward paperwork onto me, without any help, support or advice. Needless to say this puts due diligence at risk, when I myself have no formal training or experience in a legal field. This has eventually had a significant financial impact on me, due to them missing an important detail in my case, until after exchange and the night before completion. My estate agents repeatedly encouraged me to step away and pay a second solicitor, because they hadnt experienced such incompetent solicitors before, and were worried I would lose the property. I unfortunately couldnt afford to do so. I told their complaints team and my case handler that I would prefer the handling of my case to be fully investigated prior to me settling their fees. They chose to sit on this information for the week, and then tell me the afternoon of completion that they wouldnt transfer my funds until I settled their fees. Funny timing that. My advice to anyone reading this is to not take the risk and suffer as I have. Pay a little more and protect yourself.
