I have known Simon, a co-founder of Mustard House Design, for over 20 years and during this time he has always been my go-to-person when I need an interior design expert at a client's property. As a freelance PA I have managed the homes and rental properties of a number of high net worth individuals in London. Simon and his colleagues have always provided a great service, whether for a quick redecoration or more involved design and refurbishment. Simon has a talented designer's eye and strong attention to detail, coupled with an ability to think on his feet and turn projects around quickly and efficiently. So we purchased a Victorian house that really needed some love after years on the rental market. Mustard House came in helped us by designing what the refurbishment would look like which was the easier bit, and the designs were great. this covered architectural changes to open the spaces and make better use of the space we had, then choosing colours for paints, tile designs, flooring, new layout, and multiple new bathrooms and a new kitchen design. Further to that they also worked on the tender to many of the suppliers, the builders, engineers etc. Having them support the whole process was a great help, as it would have been impossible otherwise. The whole house was refurbished and it looks completely different, it went from a dark, poorly designed space to a open, bright place to call home. This is also best described by the fact we went from a 1 bathroom, 3 bed to a 2 bathroom, 1 WC and still had the 3 bedrooms, without sacrificing bedroom size at all. One of the key areas I must also mention was becuase they were going on site they picked up some big issues the builders had missed which in some cases would have been extremly costly if not impossible to fix later. They were very good, we met them multiple times in person when needing, they would come to the property, we had frequent calls, emails etc. It is honestly hard to put into words the service they provide. They had a wealth of knowledge from commercial and private buildings which is why I think the project turned out so well. I highly recommend them, refurbishment, building from new, and even setting out things like furniture/ appliances they will have an positive impact. I am very thankful for them. We worked with Simon at Mustard House Design to design and plan the complete refurbishment of our North London garden flat. As first time owners, we needed someone we could trust to bring our ideas to life. Simon did exactly that. He was extremely personable, professional and helpful throughout the process, going above and beyond the scope of work agreed and helping us make the most of the space whilst staying within budget. I am a retiree landlord/property owner based in South London. Simon of Mustard House Design has been an invaluable resource over some 15 years with various discrete projects both for my home and for rental properties. Simon has worked on the external and internal refurbishment of my 4 storey 1842 Grade II listed town house. The work has included structural rectification works to the exterior walls and roof, complete window refurbishment and where necessary replacement, along with interior design refurbishment projects - so far in the Sitting Room, the Kitchen/Dining Room, a bathroom and renewal of a Garage/Crafts Workshop. His handling of Building Control and Listed Building Consent and dealings with the structural engineer and combining these into one submission was invaluable and ultimately very successful. He is charmingly firm with contractors. On the rental side Simon has provided guidance, design and assistance in the refurbishment works I have undertaken from time to time, notably full-scale kitchen and bathroom renewal together with furniture choice and dressing out work for new tenant marketing imagery. His background in 5 Star Hotel design gives him important knowledge and experience of suppliers and kit, and very importantly budgetary control. His drawings and renderings are of high quality elegant and informative, and he is especially good at lighting design and specification. Simons commercial experience in the Far East, dealing with the biggest players in the hospitality industry makes him a calm and solid designer who is able to handle projects of all sizes and complexity.
