With the appointment of two new Paxfold scheme managers Samuel and Ella things are rapidly improving towards making our homes a safe and friendly place to live. A much appreciated and well-organised trip out recently happened. A previous male scheme manager was abusive, it took a long time for him to be removed. Scheme managers returned part time after being withdrawn for over a year to protect THEIR health because of the covid virus leaving many vulnerable residents having to cope with only agency staff a few hours a week. Consequently protection from the virus was inadequate. It is now many months after posting this original review. At the residents scheme meeting on 7.9.21 it was said by the senior scheme manager and recorded in the minutes taken that a scheme manager would be present Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. This has regularly not been the case and reinforces my comment about management. On the 5th of October 2021 a notice was placed on the office door yet again that no scheme manager would be available from 11.30 am until 9am today. Two days ago an elderly resident with dementia sat on the window sill in reception for up to 2 hours as he had lost his key waiting for careline. No one was in the office. Julie has now been absent for about a year this also is of concern to many residents. My purpose in writing this public review is to bring about change having written twice to the now departed Chief Executive C Holly and made two official seperate complaints with no acceptable outcome. I now enter the area of Abuse as defined by hcha themselves in a leaflet titled Stopping Abuse. As part of this leaflet it states that abuse from anyone including STAFF will not be tolerated. Abuse is stated to include INTIMIDATION and playing MIND GAMES. Age Uk define elder abuse to include neglect resulting in harm. Bob Blackman MP described the photo of resulting harm to one resident in a letter as "shocking". At a lunchtime meeting last year three hcha managers spoke uninvited and inappropriately disrupting their lunchtime meal to a small group of elderly residents many on the NHS extremely clinically vulnerable list. Some people at Paxfold House are on immunosuppressive medication (person now hosptalised!) which means they have negligible immunity to any infection let alone the Covid virus and are at extreme risk. One manager wore a face mask as recommended over his face and mouth another only a face shield and the third no protection at all. This clearly demonstrates the degree of concern for the residents which can only be said to be inadequate. Several complaints have been made about this intimidatory presentation including a online complaint made to head office titled Inflaming Racial Tension. Inadequate care must be corrected. Saturday 31.10.21 the ambulance came three times to Paxfold house which is not a care home but sheltered accomodation. Written clarification as to what can be expected from sheltered accommodation has been requested by another resident several months ago and has not been provided. Why? In the Harrow churches website Paxfold House is described as a "Safe and friendly place to live." My purpose in writing this public review now seen by over 300 people is to help the above statement to be become true. It may have been noticed by those reading the above comments hopefully Harrow Churches Head Office management they have been edited over many months. At the scheme meeting 7.9.21 the most important item discussed was that of inadequate care at Paxfold House. There was an extensive discussion but this was ommitted from the published minutes and a written request was made for this to corrected but refused to be done. Why? One lady spent 8 hours collapsed on her flat floor I am told . With new scheme management hopefully things will improve and simple maintenance jobs not take sometimes YEARS to be done.
