The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell

Love the quieter location of this townhouse. Cobbled road outside is off the main road. Staff very friendly and helpful. Quirky OTT deco may not be to everyone's taste but lots of nooks and comfy chairs to sit in in Wilhelmina's lounge. Cocktails served with aplomb and very reasonably priced for London. Small plates available to eat alongside if wanted. Breakfast spread was plentiful and well cooked.

I booked a table for 14 people for afternoon tea in a private room. The food was lovely however the service was extremely poor and a complete let down. Over 800 bill but zero service. I was a host for a baby shower and had to get up for every single thing as not a waiter/ waitress in sight for anything. I booked a hotel and not had this party in my house so that would not have to be rushed off my feet However I had to get up to ask the waiter to - Take orders of the teas from the guests as the food had arrived but no orders for drinks had been taken and there was no water on the table. I had to ask for water. One hour had passed and no one had taken orders for other drinks - as there were options of a cocktail or champagne available. No one asked us if were ok, no one asked if needed anything else. They didnt even remove a single plate long after people had finished their food. I asked for the bill and no one brought it to me. They just charged my card! I decided it wasnt the time and place to complain as it was my friends birthday shower, I wrote in a couple of days later. The manager said he would have a meeting about the next day?! Not much of an apology. I then asked them to refund the service charge as I was so upset with the response. I would not recommend booking here to anyone. Luckily the event went ok due to me spending my time going back and forth!
