Why I joined:
I fell off my fitness wagon for some time and struggled to find consistency, I tried multiple methods of exercise, motivational tools and gyms and after the initial enthusiasm and motivation I would just revert back to getting out of a routine until I joined OT.
For me, I believe it is because it satisfies my competitive nature (chasing stats to remain in zones) but because you can focus on yourself instead of others around you, you don't lose motivation for being the slowest or least fit. I love that the classes push me out of my comfort zone, but due to the simplistic structure, you never feel unable to do the exercises. The coaches are also very hands-on, providing you with alternatives when needed (when I initially joined I felt too heavy to do any jumps proud to say that it might not be elegant yet, but I am jumping away now).
Cost:
Initially, the cost might give you pause (it did me too, but I quickly upgraded after being a member for a few weeks). But I have yet to join a gym in London as clean as OT, they have full service showers, and their staff are beyond amazing. On a practical side if you do the maths and have a set number of classes you manage to attend the cost becomes very reasonable especially if you are like me where you joined other gyms and it just ended up becoming a monthly donation. Compared to other boutique gyms with similar smaller classes, OT is on the more affordable side. There are also alternative packages available, obviously , with a set number of classes but a good option if you want to see if it is a fit. They have also now added extra classes so there are later evening options avaible making it more feasible to attend when it suits your day.
Staff:
Wow. Honestly. The energy, grit, and personality the staff has is just so amazing... you can't help but feel lifted.( Don't know if there is something in their morning coffees and if so can I get some?). Human nature, you are going to prefer some coaches over others, but again, OT delivers here by offering a large number of classes with variety. I can honestly say I love 99.9%, and I have yet to hear locker room talk of members who would disagree that the staff is just amazing. Not wanting to leave anyone out but special shout out to: David who signed me up and since helped me with so much admin going above and beyond with follow up and delivery, always having the best energy. Toby and Steve, my first few coaches who made me love the gym and new coaches (for me as I had a bit of a gym break), Joe, Teegan, and Sam. They make you excited to join the gym, they make effort to get to know your name and even if you think they just do it cus they have to they suprise you by how much attention they pay to you eg coach Teegan the other day mentioned that she can see week on week that I am getting stronger and it was just what I needed to hear and it really made me feel seen and proud of myself.
Classes:
The structure initially appears simple: treadmill, rower, and floor (there are two bikes available for those with problems on tread and rower). But the sessions are so varied that you never get bored or feel you do just the same. The music is always a vibe. The floor work has demos running on screen, and coaches always pay attention and correct your form. So you are able to hit the sweet spot between cardio and weight work, which is optimal for weight loss. Goal is to have 12 splat points per class which equates to 12mins in orange/red zone as theory behind is that you will then continue to burn calories post the class.
I honestly can't recommend OT enough!
