Life savings refunded after a scam. A family member had lost her entire life savings & been left in significant debt through a scam. After having very little luck with the 3 banks involved I complained on her behalf to the Financial Ombudsman. Although it took 16 months to deal with the 3 complaints (through covid) all were resolved in her favour & almost all her money was refunded. I'd like to thank the investigator, Liam Davies, for his persistent work on our behalf.

Excellent service. I contacted to Financial Ombudsman Service because action fraud team recommended to me. Take time to sort out stuff because they are busy to help peoples. Today they ordered my bank to refund my money back in my account. Its took 2-3 months I think but Thank you so much Pamela Barham (Investigator) and Financial Ombudsman Service. Highly recommended. My rating doesnt reflect the service - its way too generous. I have never experienced such a shambles in all my life as the case handlers and ombudsman who i have had the genuine misfortune of dealong with at the Financial Services Ombudsman; Phillips and Wilmott should congratulate themselves on being 2 of the highest bunch of under-achievers i have experienced in some time. Having brought a complaint to this orgn over 12 months ago they have managed to split this into 3 seperare issues and complaints, and review just 1. This has overly complicated a simple matter and created volumes of unecessary work. The one they have reviewed was found in my favour with some derisory award which the defendant ignored and the case handler then said that there was nothing more he could do so i should take this to the small claims Court! I kid you not!!! He doesnt even know that the Ombudsan is an alternative to court action. Their modus of operandi is designed to frustrate and complicate any valid complaint. I suspect its a strategy for either reduction of cases and / or to appease the financial institutions for whom they are bought and paid for. Dont waste your time - this is not a route to justice. And they dont help consumers. That is a myth. I have 140 emails to them over the last 12 months to a small and valid complaint that ran to 30 or so emails for 4 weeks with an unscruplulous Insurance Company.
