It is an amazing idea to place a court in the middle of Canary Wharf, the court looks beautiful among the skyscrapers. There are also many people that go play - which makes it great. However, this court was clearly not made by basketball players for basketball players and is basically an attraction for tourists and passer-bys. Major issues list: 1. Hoops are not the right height (lower than regulation) 2. Court floor material are these plastic panels that go into each others making this the most slippery court I've ever played at (been playing for 12 years). This kills the game and is a hazard for players. 3. Due to the flooring material, there are many "dead zones" where when you bounce the ball it doesn't bounce back. 4. Only 1 side of a court. So when 15-20 people turn up you have to wait an hour for a game. Though I get it - be good, don't lose, don't wait. Regardless this can easily be a full court so 2 games can happen at the same time. 5. They decided to redo it so hopefully, they take these issues into account. However, who rebuilds an outdoor basketball court is summer - when the most people need a place to hoop? Really poor timing.
