Dealt with Levitate in Leicester. The were initially the architects on a residential project we were working on. We were working for a main contractor. Ground conditions were so poor that we could not use a crane or mewps. Levitate blamed the main contractor for this & the subsequent delays. The main contractor was kicked off site & Levitate took over the management of the project. Despite the main contractor warning us against working with Levitate, we felt that we had to continue with them as the only way we could complete the project & get paid fairly. Project now completed, further issues with ground conditions, although better than previous they have still not supplied a ground pressure reading & so we have been unable to use a mewp as we are worried that it will tip when boom is out (corporate manslaughter etc). Additional costs have been incurred through the installation taking longer due to this issue. Although Levitate have paid the contract value, the refuse to pay for the additional time taken to install steelwork from an ally tower. They are refusing to accept that ground conditions are to blame. They are refusing to carry out ground pressure tests. We are now looking at reporting them to the HSE & at removing steelwork to the value of the outstanding debt. I really would advise steering clear of this company.
