As someone in the medical field, I cannot believe the quality. In the 10+ years I've been at the surgery I have rarely needed to visit. However, for the past year I was experiencing some worrying symptoms and had to constantly push for referral and prove it wasn't anything minor. Similar for my other family members at the surgery who tried to get help; luckily I had some idea of what was wrong and could help them push for a diagnosis by aiding them in what to suggest as the GPs will consistently brush it off and ignore symptoms as "the new normal" !?! (A phrase I had been told far too much. It is the phrase of giving up in a patient) The advice is poor and the communication is poor. There is one receptionist in particular who is rather rude and short, I see other reviews have picked up on this. I don't know her name but if I did I would lodge a complaint. As a patient, you shouldn't need medical training to be able to get your GP to actually listen to you. It makes me genuinely concerned for patients that didn't have aomeone at home to persuade them to keep pressing for a diagnosis/referral/treatment. For me, I was left in so much pain due to the GP leaving worrying symptoms so long, I had to call 111 who immediately prescribed me appropriate medication and suggested hospital help if it didn't work. That one phone call gave me more help than a year with this practice.

Trying to see a doctor here is like trying to see the wizard of Oz. My 5 year was sick and I needed him to be seen as soon as possible. I rang on the Monday and was told I could not make an appointment and to ring back at 8am. I rang back at 8:00 am and was 13th in the queue. When I got through I spoke with the receptionist who asked for all the details and said that he would not be seen without a negative PCR result. No covid symptoms whatsoever. After a length she agreed to get the doctor to call me back and they would then decide if he could be actually be seen or not today. After 6 hours of waiting for a call back I eventually took him to the childrens walk in centre and got him diagnosed and got treatment for him. Not impressed at all with the poorly functioning appointment system in this surgery, which is sadly similar to many other surgeries now since strict covid changes to practice have been put in place. It means you simply cannot be seen unless you have a negative PCR result which takes over 24 hours regardless of your symptoms, it is clearly putting extra strain on walk in centres, A&E departments, as patients are not able to access their GP and get early treatment and instead are getting sicker. Come on GPs we need you to step up more than ever right now! Not hide away!
