18-11-2022 I posted my camera to newton ellis & co for it to be cleaned as it had fallen into a dirty puddle which they didn't do a very good cleaning and they messed up my camera because now I can't use it .It's stuck on auto for every thing and the video does not work so now my best camera lives in a draw never to be used again so thank you newton ellis & co

Very bad experience with this shop. I shipped internationally as they told me they could repair a lens. Once they received it, they realized they could not. Very poor communication and prior analysis of the case. Then, problems arise again when I try to take my lens back. They made me pay the shipment, and then nothing. Silence, no more reply. It seems they are crooks going to keep the money.

Like most people, I don't need or use a Camera Repairer all that often, and I've used a couple of different companies before now. I've not used the Liverpool based Newton Ellis & Co Ltd before as it's a bit out of my neck of the woods but since it's possible to both collect from them as well have them post items back I thought I'd give them a go as they seem to almost specialize in older film cameras from the 80's, 70's or even 60's which in some photographic circles are considered 'collectables only' - not for actual use (which is surely not true). I posted my Nikon FE film camera to the firm basically for a 'full service' and this was undertaken by one of their technicians in a turnaround time of about 3 weeks. The camera was returned to me nicely and securely packed and sent my Royal Mail Special Delivery, and it arrived back safely an in a good, renewed condition. I would probably use the company again. If you use them though, please be aware that from my own experience of them, 'communication' and good old-fashioned 'customer service' are probably not their strong points (which is a pity), as I would have liked some sort of confirmation that they had not only received the camera I'd posted to them but also confirmation of when it had been posted back to me. I basically had to call them a week or so after posting it to them, just to confirm that it had arrived, and although I was actually advised with a phone call that my camera had been serviced and was ready to be returned and what the payment due amount was for the work carried out on the camera (which I paid online that same day), I had to chase it up almost a week later later as I'd still not received it (and it hadn't at that point for some reason, even been posted).
