Firstly, Id recommend you to not put a penny down before viewing the property as the online tour is falsely advertised and did not represent the room accurately. When viewing the property double and triple check there are no issues with the flat. I learnt the hard way as the ceiling in my flat's bathroom was falling through with a leak, which I should have seen as a red flag, but I believed the company when they promised it would be sorted for me moving in. 6 months on, I was still dealing with constant leaks in the bathroom that were never fully fixed the 5 times they supposedly fixed it which essentially made me unwell. Not to mention, maintenance walking into my flat without any notice which is illegal and made me feel unsafe.
The flat in general has the cheapest furniture possible, of which the majority was already broken prior to moving in. In the summer the circulation isnt ideal, the heat is unbearable in the flat and in the winter it gets freezing. The hot water and heating are unreliable. The flat lacks storage space. In general, the buildings and flats are old, dirty, mouldy and dusty. Simply not in suitable living conditions.
Theres only one washer and drier for the whole building which also doesnt wash clothes properly and doesnt take cards ( Bridgewater). In terms of wifi, its well below average and pretty much just doesnt work- making it impossible to do my university work. The wifi also randomly completely went off for weeks on end, meaning people missed the first days of their final years of university and work, which we got absolutely nothing to make up for, barely even a sorry. In this situation, they just put blame onto different people, left, right and centre. Postage is hit and miss, so if youre expecting important parcels or letters, its not reliable. The lock on the door to the entrance to Bridgewater flats was broken on several occasions so literally anyone could make their way in, leaving the tenants' safety at risk. The ceiling at the entrance has massive holes in it. The gym they claim to have is non-existent.
In line with previous reviews, I would also compare the place to a prison cell. Horrendous for your mental health, I couldnt wait to leave. All issues were addressed with L1 Lettings in which they downplayed, lied to me and failed to acknowledge they were ever in the wrong.
Out of all the years Ive rented, this is easily by far the worst experience Ive had with a letting agency and the worst place Ive lived in. Avoid.
