If you are wanting to do a full distance triathlon and don't plan on doing more than one, my advice is to pay the extra money and do an Ironman.
The swim was in a lovely lake, but full of plants, there were points where swimming was practically impossible.
The bike was a beautiful route, but be wary of some pretty daunting climbs (ignore the event's description of "not flat by any means but there are no major climbs or severe gradients either" - some of the climbs are tough). The aid station was positioned on a slightly uphill road and didn't contain a wide selection of aid, along with only one toilet. A 5 minute queue at that point wasn't ideal.
The run was flat, but included plenty of hazards for tired legs including a cattlegrid and very uneven ground in places. The route was interesting but did contain a section along a muddy canal path, so ignore the event's description where it states "suitable for whatever footware you feel comfortable in", it was extremely slippery in places and running in road shoes was very difficult. The aid stations were staffed with really helpful people, but had run out of bananas very soon after I started and didn't have anything salty (unless I missed something), the finish had even run low on water so limited you to one cup.
Everything else was great. Transition was easy, the marshals were in general super helpful and enthusiastic, it's just a massive shame that something as basic as a timing chip has meant I can't see how I actually did.
Edit: I can't reply to the reply, but paying 315 then being asked to find my own finish time is pretty crumby. Even if I could find that, it would have been nice to know my splits etc. Not sure why I would lie about anything else. Like I said, there were loads of positives, but also some negatives.
