Went to the Swan on the river for a mid week lunchtime meal. We were greeted very politely and a member of staff brought menus outside to us promptly. We ordered drinks which came promptly, we then ordered some food. One of the drinks was a latte, which was only luke warm. We got one meal after about 10 minutes, but the other didn't appear after a further 5 minutes, so had to go in to check on it. We were then given the 2nd meal, but it wasn't as per the menu, white instead of brown bread and no dressing for the salad. We had to go in a further 2 times to get the salad dressing. Cannot recommend.

Redeemed somewhat by the lovely, friendly staff, the restaurant it's self was disappointing. The highlight, the fish of the day, was really tasty. Perfectly seasoned and battered. Sadly, everyone else's was poor to awful. The burgers were entirely inedible - overcooked in its extremity, with diners being unable to swallow bites without having a sip of a drink due to how dry it was. The pasta was lifeless and soggy, also very overcooked. The calamares cheap and frozen, served with an unseasoned mayo. Drinks were ok - we had to send back one cocktail due to the taste, and no draught beer was on offer as they had no gas. Overall, an average experience brought lower by high pricing.

Nice place but food was only ok. Eg. Onion rings were basic and very oily and small portion of whitebait.

Has the potential to be a fabulous place, but seriously let down by lack of attention to detail. We stayed in one of the rooms; the decor was good, the bed was comfortable and the view over the river was stunning, but the room was not cleaned to a high standard - cobwebs, dust, bits on the carpet, random stains... breakfast service was extremely slow, lacking in basics (i.e. not offered anything additional, no option to serve yourself anything) and just an uncomfortable experience overall as everyone was waiting so long. The one thing I have to say is that all the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful.
