I can recommend Andy as a Guitar teacher, partly for his love of playing himself being clear, which is highly encouraging. Andy is more than happy to help make or take suggestions for what we can work on, and strikes the magical balance that is so rare for me to find. This is where I feel I am going at a comfortable pace, yet Andy will be pushing me without me feeling pushed. I do not feel pushed in such a way where I would want to walk away, and he is happy to provide feedback on my progress in a way I am more likely to accept. He is friendly, laid back, kind, and clearly very good at what he does, and I have quickly come to value my time with him. I have wanted to learn how to play an instrument for years but only finally got round to it this year and feel it couldnt have come at a better time! I am very glad I have found Andy to guide me on this journey. If you, like me, are someone who is overly self-conscious about doing anything in front of people unless it is perfect or excellent and even feel awkward even practicing (in case anyone would hear), I cannot express articulately enough how Andy has made these early days so much more comfortable for me. I know I will be working on those personal obstacles as much as learning the Guitar, if not more so, but with Andy as my music teacher I have hope that they wont be the challenges they would have been had I tried to learn only by myself, or gone with someone who was not right for me.

Andy taught me how to play the electric guitar and opened my eyes to a load of amazing music in the process. He's a natural teacher, great musician and is super relaxed about it too. I'd recommend him to anyone starting or just trying to improve their skillset.

Was recommended Andy's services by a friend (who is a very talented Guitar player) who Andy taught for years previously. Andy puts his students at ease and is a perfect teacher for anyone who needs a patient and calm person to help them learn. He is a highly skilled musician and his knowledge and years of experience are extremely valuable for anyone either looking to improve their intermediate guitar playing, or learn from a beginners level.

I started Guitar Lessons with Andy last winter having got into a total rut of playing the same songs again and again...my goals were to learn how to solo guitar and to generally improve my playing. I knew 1 solo at that time...So roll the clock forward 10 months...my playing has improved beyond belief. I genuinely have to pinch myself sometimes such has been the improvement. I can play multiple guitar solos and riffs now including some I never believed I would be able to play (Leyla and Sweet Child O'Mine) and each week my playing gets better. I have also gained a new appreciation of song structure and bands that I would never have listened too - I have even learned some Jazz!!. After Lockdown we moved of course from face to face lessons to virtual online sessions which have had no real impact whatsoever - its been a seamless transition. Andy of course is a 'brilliant' guitarist but also a brilliant teacher and so patient as in the early days I massacred a number of songs!! I would wholeheartedly recommend Andy to anyone seeking lessons even in a virtual format.
