The Peaceful Doula

When I found out that I was pregnant, I was convinced that I wanted to have a C section because of all the horror birth stories I have heard from friends. Everything changed when I met Louise! She is an incredibly calm and empathetic person, who you will trust the moment you meet her and feel like you have known her for ages. She has changed my entire mindset about birth and suddenly I became really excited about the experience and started to fully trust my body. She guided my husband and I trough the entire process in the most caring way, before, during and after giving birth. She was always available, whenever we had any questions or concerns and was able to not only support us emotionally, but also provide us with all the important information we needed to make informed decisions all along the way. Without her I would have never ended up having the most beautiful and peaceful home birth without any interventions. We will always be grateful!

I will always be incredibly grateful for the support and care Louise gave us while I was pregnant, the day I gave birth, and then once we welcomed our baby. Louise shared her expertise clearly and thoughtfully, taking a personalised and evidence-based approach and helping us navigate the grey areas with confidence. When I had a complication, I considered going against advice for my birth plan. Louise and Leti (our excellent back-up doula!) were so helpful bringing together the research/guidance so I could decide what would be right and safe for me and my baby. Beyond going through the facts and physiology (which we definitely needed!), Louise was a kind thought partner who made me feel heard and understood. By the day of my caesarean, Louise felt more like family (the kind of family with stellar birth and baby knowledge!). Louise is honestly brilliant and I couldn't recommend her enough.

Louise was absolutely wonderful without her our baby wouldnt have had the birth she had - a real life changer! When I found out I was pregnant we were delighted however I was so worried and anxious about birth. I however had nothing to worry about with Louise as our doula. From our first zoom call I knew she was the perfect doula for our family. She was kind, caring, warm and friendly and also super organised!! She really lives up to the peaceful doula name! We opted to do hypnobirthing with her too and learnt so much from the sessions that we put into practice and enabled us to have the birth we could only have dreamed of. After the birth Louise was on hand 24/7 to answer queries (she was so prompt and helpful in responding) and came to our house when I was really struggling with breastfeeding and in tears. I cannot thank Louise enough such a special lady! Ps the raspberry leaf tea and books Louise brought were also amazing!

Louise is an angel! She prepared us so well, supported us and then - crucially - was totally invaluable in the birth itself. We managed to have a completely drug free and natural VBAC (which I had wanted so much) and Im certain that this was in large part thanks to her incredible support during the birth. She and my husband were a seamless team. There were things I dont think we would have thought to do, if wed been alone. Also, she was hugely motivating when we had a curve ball of a doctor try to put us off the VBAC at the last moment. I know that Louise will stay a friend forever and a very special one at that. After a fairly traumatic first birth experience, I didnt believe it was possible to have a positive birth. A friend recommended a doula for my second birth and having Louise as ours was the best decision we made. Louise listened to all of my fears without judgement and truly spoke our language. Shes the perfect balance of fact and care and made me feel safe from when we first met. She is organised and provided practical exercises to prepare me and my husband for the physical and emotional demands of labour and all that comes before and after it. It was such a relief being able to outsource our worries to an expert as it allowed us to conserve our energy for active labour and a delivery that we could only have dreamed of. Louise was always available for any questions or concerns and checked in appropriately too. Thank you so much Louise, I wish that every new parent was able to have you by their side.
