Was expecting lots from Ash Valley but came away somewhat disappointed. Many of the bunkers were defined as GUR and those in use had not been well prepared, the attached picture shows a lack of raking in one that was in use, as it was full of animal prints. I didn't spot one bunker that was actually being repaired so labelling as GUR was a bit of a moot point. I lost 3 balls that I hit straight, and due to the left to right slope it was impossible to gauge where they might have ended up, which was so annoying and I'm not expecting to play a provisional after each drive just in case. The greens were very slow and lots of the holes are quite samey. The layout of the course was unusual, with some holes shared with both a 9 hole course, and the main 18 hole one. At busy times this must prove a nightmare. Also, the course is not the standard two loops of 9 as the 10th seemed to be miles from the club house and no opportunity to stock up with supplies or take a comfort break (probably not great for ladies in particular). I may try again when the course has seen some water, and due to the undulating terrain I may also hire a buggy. The club house was very welcoming and apart from only having Guinness on tap, the selection of cakes etc looked great
