        A charming cottage in a fantastic spot for Fountains Abbey. Unfortunately, however, our stay (in January) was marred by being permanently cold. Despite turning the central heating up, the place never got warm - no doubt due at least in part to the very high ceilings (see photos). We inferred that the owners were alert to the issue as there was a portable electric heater as well as the CH radiators but it had negligible effect. We would caution against staying in the winter months.
