On a route from our campsite into Lincoln up the (horribly scruffy) High Street the Golden Eagle was recommended for a pint of real ale. Deadly quiet with one of the staff with her feet up on the banquette seating . We belatedly realised the table we selected to sit at had the packaging and detritus of a previous customer's bought-in meal of Co-op mini scotch egg bites and crisps. Disappointing housekeeping aside the beer range was excellent and it seems like a nice pub. I enjoyed a Pheasantry BB I think and would have stayed for another but the general ambience had my wife requesting an alternative venue. I'm sure it's a great boozer when busy.
