My son is under DCMH after being put on leave for mental health. He had a call from Katie his social worker. He wasn't feeling upto talking so asked me to have a word with her and arrange a more convenient time to chat. Katie was raising her voice over me, got extremely angry, informed me she will "escalate things" she became more cross when I asked her what escalating things would entail. I told her, I found her manner to be rude and quite upsetting, given I am taking care of my sons needs that have been severe insomnia and a mental health diagnosis, with other difficult symptoms, to which she responded "I am not your social worker" she states she has a duty of care? What sort of care is this? The boy just wanted to rearrange the call!! I am left utterly bewildered why asking her to call at a more convenient time led to such abuse and rudeness. Not a great reflection on what is supposed to be a support to these people.
