I'm biased, because this is the club I play for. But it's one of only a few in the local leagues that plays in good surroundings and helps juniors to get into the game. There's a good social feel too - not the case in every club.

This splendid club, located in superb quarters in the Guildhall of the beautiful city of Lichfied, is well supported and active with multiple teams in a number of local leagues. The officials are all very welcoming to newcomers - I was even greeted by Nigel Short's dad! It is packed on club nights, quite unlike the sparsely populated venues in draughty church halls and the like one normally encounters. If you fancy refreshment after your game, there are a number of excellent pubs a short walk away. Parking is also more than adequate. Worth a visit by any keen chess player.
