Tried donating a 3 Seater sofa here as well as a floor lamp (which was bought from St Giles in the first place) The sofa was brand new from Argos 2 years prior. I advised St Giles of this prior to them collecting for donation. My wife carried the sofa down a flight of stairs as they stated its not there job, the sofa was for collection only to be told they aren't taking it as the sofa had a rip in it (they knew about it) also they aren't taking the lamp as it wasn't 'tested' although the lamp had a passed test mark from St Giles themselves as we brought it from them a year prior. They shrugged, unloaded the items off the van and drove away taking the bare minimum. I would say that this may be a one off but unfortunately not the case. I attempted to donate a fully working flat screen TV to them months prior but they refused to take it because it didn't have a remote? ( The TV is controlled via the buttons on the console, a remote can be bought if desired ) now the issue is when you look at the prices that they mark this stuff up to in store is ridiculous. They're crying out for donations yet seem to think they can pick/choose. The quality of the items were fine. The sofa was sold within minutes after and i've made 100 quid. Will not donate to here again and will continue to donate to other charities.
