Thank you to the absolute amazing staff in the primary school division. Each member (but one admin) was approachable, kind and professional. Their ethics are very strict and they will tell you straight when your child messes up but also happily share a joke. I don't put it past them to tell you off either if it's in the best interest of your child. However, children are allowed to be kids and even sort smaller disputes out by themselves under the watchful eye of the staff. The staff tries to work with the parents and more importantly, listens to them to find the best way to support each individual student. My son felt welcomed, not labelled and judged and he learned a lot - plus he adored his teachers and he would have loved to stay on. He still talks about and misses the staff and especially his class teacher. Academically, I would expect them to fall behind their peers at their homeschool as the focus lies on engaging and supporting positive behaviour and identifying and breaking up behavioral issues. Do not expect a 180 change in your child once the 12 weeks programme is over but if you and your child's homeschool are open to learn and support your child on it's way by implementing strategies and suggestions, they can manage to soften existing behaviour issues and open the way up for your child. Unfortunately, my child wasn't as lucky with his homeschool but thankfully, Horizons was able to help him a second time. The ministry of education and mainstream schools could learn a thing or two (or 10) from schools like Horizons Academy. A special thanks to the lady at the school office whose wonderful attitude represents the school at its best.
