Steve's been looking after our plumbing/boilers at both home and business. He's always tried his best to repair what can be repaired in the most economical way. Our home boiler had finally packed up last week and Steve managed to fit us in and just finished fitting a new boiler so we didn't have to go without heating and hot water for too long. He turned up on time as always, job was done very professionally and to high standard. As he's a registered fitter our boiler is now under warranty for 12 yrs. Cannot recommend him highly enough. I bought a house in April where the previous owner employed this engineer to fit an immersion heater. The switch wasn't replaced and was old and cracked. Every time we used it, the switch got very hot and there was a strange fishy smell. Eventually it stopped working. We couldn't use the gas central heating as it had been condemned and we're waiting to have major renovations done, including a new heating system. I called a reliable, trustworthy heating engineer who said he'd never seen such shoddy work and that the installation could have caused a fire. As I wasn't the 'customer', I couldn't make a complaint through official routes. I let the selling agent know so she could warn the vendor about this person.This is the only place where my horror can be expressed and others warned. My daughter and I were put in danger and I just can't get over how someone could do this. Having looked through my paperwork, I then realised the same person had done the gas certificate. As the gas fire wouldn't light when we moved in, I asked my gas engineer to have a look. It turns out it's faulty. Also, there was no way it had been tested as the ignition battery was totally corroded! The certificate clearly says the gas fire had passed! My gas engineer condemned it. One star is one too many.
