The SSAFA Leicestershire & Rutland (Armed Forces Clarity ) is nothing more than a welfare association; founded in 1885, by the then colonel Sir James Gildea, with the aim of helping not only the military at war, but also their families at home, which they lived in hardship. The history of this charitable association is quite rich in historical events and great evolutions. The SSAFA was of great help to the soldiers of the two Great Wars including their families. Even prisoners of war who returned home from Korea were promptly helped by this assiciation. Even today, this important assistance center operates actively in the field , thanks to the massive presence of volunteers.
